Thank you for visiting Highway 3 Angler. Alaska’s Highway 3, better known as the Parks Highway, is well regarded for its many rivers, streams, and lakes easily accessible from the road. My goal at Highway3Angler.com is to provide you with helpful information that makes your visit to the Susitna Valley more enjoyable, efficient, and productive. I’ll be posting trip reports, a weekly fishing report roundup, stories, tutorials, a little bit of fish politics, and business and product reviews. Whether you call the Susitna River and its tributaries your home waters or are visiting for the weekend, Highway 3 Angler hopes to play a small role in making your visit a success.
Highway 3’s fisheries have been my home waters for nine years. Most of the time I’m chasing trout, but I really enjoy flinging flies with a two-hand rod for king salmon (catch and release). With hundreds of miles of fishable water available to anglers, there are many runs I haven’t fished, access points I’ve yet to discover, and logs jams that haven’t claimed my flies. It’s a great place to explore and now I do it with kids in tow more often than not. Please follow along as I write about my experiences in one of Alaska’s more accessible, productive, and family-friendly fisheries.
